Brief Musings Concerning the Errors of Hylesism

I have been mulling over the Jack Schaap/Jack Hyles issues for some time. I used to teach at a Christian school, which was strongly linked to the Hyles camp, and through that school learned much more than I would have ever liked to know about the perversions propagated by Hyles and his followers. All of the pastors from that school attended Hyles at one point in their schooling, and were thoroughly indoctrinated by Jack Hyles. That being said, a strong dose of Hylesism spread throughout the rest of the church and school, which only produced the same wicked fruit as that seen at Hyles-Anderson Bible College, First Baptist of Hammond, Indiana, and other Hyles satellites. When the news of Jack Schaap's sin reached my eyes I was not surprised. I was not even outraged, because this is what happens to ministries that do not deal with sin the same way that the Bible does. They do not believe what the Bible says about repentance. They cannot understand the separation issue, nor do they want to understand any of these doctrines, because to understand and implement any one of these truths would have drastically shrank their proud claim as the "Nation's Largest Sunday School", a badge that they flaunt with no real validity.

What does strike me from the continuing fallout is how people are handling the recent events surrounding Jack Schaap's sin. I noticed that many visited Schaap's Facebook page to like it! I read comments from former students, parents, and coworkers that came out in support of the man that they view/viewed as one of  the greatest living "men of God." (Their words, not mine). I read of and listened to comments from various preachers, pastors, evangelists, and a somewhat famous Christian Lawyer, who all, though saddened, support Schaap. In the article linked at this paragraphs beginning is found the first published comments that I have found that truly shed light on the situation. This pastor from Maine got it right when he said Schaap did not fall. Schaap has deeper, more spiritual issues than just simply falling. Schaap and his father-in-law were/are the wolve's in sheeps clothing that are so often warned about in the Bible. At the heart of the matter is the repentanceless false-gospel so firmly indoctrinated in their churches and schools. Hyles made it very clear in his Enemies of Soulwinning that no one is saved from sin, and that they could not be saved from sin in this life. He even recognized that by making this claim most would think that sin is not that serious of an issue. He, his family, and followers obliged and lived documented wicked lives. Their unfruitful, bare branches are now being pruned by the Husbandmen, and cast into the fire.

My only hope and desire from this is that those who continue to support or follow this wicked system is that they are driven back into their Bibles. When there, I hope that they read I John 2:20 and 27, and realize that the HOLY SPIRIT is the teacher who guides into all truth, not a man, no matter how eloquent, charismatic, or articulate. By so doing, I hope that they reject the wickedness, and realize that sin was/is/will be the issue if the errors spued by Hylesism continue. Break the chains. Leave the darkness behind for the light of the glorious Gospel that overcomes the world. The victory that is promised all throughout the New Testament is worth so much more than any church, school, or pastor, no matter how "good" the intentions. Finally, I hope that the wickedness so prevalent in the Hyles method does not continue to poison the true church, and that Christ's prophecy about building a church against which the gates of Hell shall not prevail rings true. May the true church follow the Holy Spirit's perfect leading and cast out the leaven before it's too late.
